Raspberry Pi CubeSat Test Platform

1U CubeSat test frame 3D printed in recycled carbon-fiber PETG holding a Raspberry Pi and camera module

The problem

The customer needed a CubeSat test platform that could survive real-world testing while staying inside NASA's CubeSat size and weight limits.

A CubeSat frame has to hit a hard spec: fixed external dimensions, a tight mass budget, and enough rigidity to mean something once testing starts.

The customer supplied the design and we printed it in PETG-rCF08 — a recycled carbon-fiber PETG that’s light, strong and holds tight dimensional tolerances. Every electronic component, from the Raspberry Pi to the camera module, dropped into place on the first print, and the frame still leaves room to expand with more modules, HATs and sensors down the line.

Printed, assembled and shipped inside 24 hours.

The Raspberry Pi and ports seated in the printed frame, with room left for added HATs, sensors and modules.

The outcome

A single test platform, assembled and shipped in 24 hours — every board fit on the first print, with room to grow.
