Nissan GTR Billet Throttle Body 3D Scan

Billet aluminum throttle body under blue structured light during a 0.2 mm 3D scan

The problem

The customer needed an accurate 3D model of an aftermarket billet throttle body to design the rest of their motorsport build around — something they could drop straight into their CAD software.

You can’t design a build around a part you can’t measure. Getting a clean digital copy of this billet throttle body meant capturing every port, flange and bolt hole exactly as machined.

Billet aluminum is shiny, and shiny is the enemy of scanning — reflections confuse the sensor. We knocked the gloss back with a light scanning spray, laid out reference targets around the part, and captured it at 0.2 mm resolution from every angle.

The result is a watertight model the customer could pull straight into their CAD software and design the rest of the motorsport build around.

The billet throttle body staged on the turntable, prepped with matte spray and surrounded by reference markers.

Marker spheres give the scanner fixed points to align every angle into one watertight model.

The outcome

A high-quality, complete scan the customer could drag and drop into their CAD package and build the rest of their project design around.
